The Skull Kid’s Identity
Posted on November 16 2010 by Jacob Green
This article from Zelda Informer’s collection of Bombers Articles is a look at the origins of the Skull Kid. As per usual, this piece of writing is well researched and has flawless logic. It is a theory, though, and because of the nature of theories, it’s hard to prove or disprove the thoughts that are laid out in this article. The piece begins with the usual explanations that Anju’s grandmother is always eager to tell, but as you reach a certain point in the article, the author pulls all of the hidden and implied information out the these lines, lines which we have frequently seen, and shows us this extreme and insightful theory.
Note: There’s quite a bit of context leading up to this and I strongly suggest that you go check out the full article: here.
I was really flabbergasted when I got down to this part of the article. I was reading along, knowing most of the research presented already, and then the author gave me a good slap in the face. The topics earlier in the article seemed unrelated until the final paragraph.
The only question I can think of as a counterpoint, is why is skull kid still so childish? It seems the Happy Mask Salesman has a level maturity that the Skull Kid does not; perhaps it’s because he was trapped in the lost woods for so long. Either way, this quick read is a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the accuracy of this theory will most likely never be measured so it’s left up to you guys. Do you think Skull Kid is the Happy Mask Salesman’s Terminian counterpart? Let us know in the comments.
