Hyrule Castle is one of my favorite locations in The Wind Waker, not only because it becomes a playground when pulling the Master Sword for the first time, but also because of the emotional weight of the location. You can feel the rich history in the tragic atmosphere, and thus you can feel that something monumental has been forgotten to the society above the seas. And when you go down the steps below the statue, you meet the faces of the Sages from Ocarina of Time, old friends now immortalized in beautiful stained glass.

A few months ago, we reported on stained glass art of Saria from Ocarina of Time, with the art itself styled after her depiction in one of those stained glass windows. Content creator MiDankie’s Designs, who can be found on both YouTube and Reddit, paid homage to what is arguably the most memorable Easter egg in the series by combining their own artistic creativity and ingenuity. The process, which involved Adobe Illustrator, a Cricut Maker, and many layers of card stock, is one that is highlighted in this video.

MiDankie has since taken the time to complete a full set of coasters inspired by the Ocarina of Time Sages — as both solid and clear versions — with a similar strategy, first designing them in Adobe Illustrator. The solid versions of the coasters were printed on white vinyl, then cut, laminated, and glued onto tiles, with felt glued on the back. The clear versions of the coasters, which most mimic the stained-glass effect, were printed instead on clear vinyl, then cut, laminated, and installed onto acrylic discs, with clear feet stuck on the back.

Unfortunately, the coasters and individual window pane-shaped art are not yet for sale, but MiDankie’s Designs has expressed in the comments of their work a desire to put up the digital files and/or the physical goodies for sale in the future. Until then, you can keep up with them on their Instagram. Have a look at this stained glass mug prototype!

What do you think? Would you purchase the coaster set? What other designs from this creator do you like? Who is your favorite Sage from Ocarina of Time? Let us know in the comments below!
