From songs that manage to instill feelings of adventure, serenity and despair, to the wide array of musical instruments and themes found throughout the various games, it’s no secret that the Legend of Zelda series has a huge affinity for music. In fact, many of us can agree that the series would just not be the same without its iconic tunes — that’s how big of an impact it has on us. With music playing such an important part in the games, just how much thought has been put into each of the songs? Youtuber Ganon23000 discusses just that in his latest video.

Through his video we learn about leitmotifs and how they’re used in the series to not only make us feel or think certain things, but also how they’re used to connect one game to another. He even compares their usage with the music in Star Wars, stating that the themes for Luke, Leia and Vader give us a similar feeling to those used for Link, Zelda and Ganon. He also points out some interesting musical throwbacks from the original The Legend of Zelda and A Link to the Past used in both Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker that, although they aren’t really hidden, may have gone over some people’s heads.

Tell us, what were your thoughts on what he had to say? Are there any more interesting facts about the series’ music that weren’t covered in the video? Any hidden songs or sound effects that not many people know about? We’d love to hear what you have to say, so please leave a comment down below!
