At one point or another, we have all dreamed about the unique, yet amazing places the Zelda series can go next. The franchise has already explored unique gameplay styles multiple times before, with titles like The Wind WakerFour Swords Adventures, and even Hyrule Warriors. But where else can we take the beloved citizens of Hyrule? Well one such fan has a very stylistic prediction for the next adventure for Link.

This theory comes to us from resident game theorist Dr. Wily. In this video, he takes a look at what could possibly happen if Nintendo decided to make a Zelda game in the same style as the Paper Mario series. What he means of course is taking all the elements from the Paper series and adding them into Zelda.

Story-wise, Wily believes that the “Paper Zelda” game doesn’t really need to do anything particularly special since there’s plenty of lore and characters (both big and small) that have already been established in other games. When it comes to combat, he thinks that while a turned-based system could work, it would have to be a style of RPG combat that Nintendo already knows how to do, such as the systems seen in the Pokémon or Mario & Luigi series.

Like the story, the exploration aspect of “Paper Zelda” could be very similar to what’s already been established in the series thus far, but Wily does say that the character abilities from Paper Mario could work here too. Even the vast amount of items from throughout the series can all play their part in the game. By the end of all of this though, Wily highly doubts that Nintendo would ever work on this kind of project, unless of course it was a crossover game.

What are your thoughts on this theory? Do you think Nintendo would ever do a “Paper Zelda” game? Let us know in the comments below!
