The Legend of Zelda Four Swords: FREE for Nintendo DSi

UPDATE: We have confirmation from the folks over at Destructoid that the free Four Swords game is a port of the Game Boy Advanced version. Four Swords was originally packaged with the re-release of the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the Game Boy Advance. Unfortunately, in order to play the game you needed multiple copies of the game, multiple Game Boy Advances, and a link cable. Thus, many Zelda fans never got a chance to experience this mulitplayer adventure.

There is no word on whether or not this will have any online functionality. If I had to guess, I would say no, but it will settle for local Wi-Fi capabilities. Having played Four Swords I can say that this is the type of game that makes for a good experience when your friends are around, especially if you are competing for rupees. As Destructoid pointed out, this is a free game, so it seems unlikely Nintendo would toss too many resources behind its online functionality. It’s also also unclear whether or not this will feature any upgrades at all, or if it will be a direct port. Four Swords is a rather short game and if you have two dedicated players, you can get through the entire adventure in less than two hours. Just from the Nintendo Press Conference, we have confirmation that The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords is getting a release for the Nintendo DSi. Best of all, the game is going to be free to download! We’re not sure if this is the Four Swords title that was released for the Game Boy Advanced or for the Nintendo GameCube. The logo seemed to hint that it was Four Swords Adventures from the GameCube, but we’ll have more information as it breaks. Stay Tuned!
