Where does A Link Between Worlds rank among your favorite Zelda titles? In our Best Zelda Ever ranking from last November, it wall-merged and shimmied it’s way into our top ten, taking the number 8 spot! As a surprising release from Nintendo back in 2013, A Link Between Worlds is the distant sequel to A Link to the Past that fans didn’t know they wanted; but once they got it, they wished it had released sooner! In this month’s Definitive Ranking episode, Mases and Gooey dive in and give their thoughts on A Link Between Worlds.

Like with previous episodes, we polled our staff and the community here at Zelda Dungeon, so you can review those results below. Also, be sure to check out the newest episode above to get an in-depth analysis behind the numbers.

This is the tenth game in our rankings; in all four lists A Link Between Worlds knocked down games. The Community ranked it middle of the pack, where it takes their sixth spot, bringing down The Minish Cap and Oracle of Seasons. Interestingly, the Staff rallied to make it a top-tier game, placing it at the number two spot, moving down The Wind Waker (and perhaps controversially, putting it two spots higher then A Link to the Past). Mases also ended up with it at his number two spot, bumping Link’s Awakening. Gooey’s ranking landed it at his number four spot, bringing The Wind Waker down.

In the individual ranking of various aspects of the game, across the board most of the rankings are in agreement; the largest discrepancies being between the dungeons and side content with the Community and Staff, the former ranking both of these categories 0.3 lower than the Staff. It appears Mases’ hot take is that A Link Between Worlds doesn’t have very good pacing, he ranked it a 3; meanwhile the Staff, Community, and Gooey are in agreement that it’s within the 4 range. Lastly, Mases and Gooey ranked the game’s side content considerably higher than even the Staff.

Coming in November, the next Definitive Ranking episode will focus on Four Swords. As always, the same ten categories will be used for voting. Be sure to cast your vote and let us know what your thoughts on Four Swords are!
