The Calamity’s Fortress Looms Overhead in Orchestral-Style Cover of Breath of the Wild’s Hyrule Castle Theme
Posted on February 03 2018 by Kristen G. Rosario
Right up there next to Kass’ theme, the score for Hyrule Castle is one of the best tunes from Breath of the Wild. Ramping up the sheer magnitude of Calamity Ganon’s presence in the first few notes right as you step foot onto the castle grounds is something truly iconic. The cover we’re tackling today doesn’t forget that, as it takes more than one instrument to recreate the fortress’ epic theme.
Musician Scott Sutherland uses a euphonium, tuba, cimbasso, piano, and percussion to bring the Hyrule Castle theme to life. Scott essentially turns himself into his own personal orchestra, with each individual instrument and section being played by him. Using his multi-instrumental skills, Scott has also worked on covers of songs from Back to the Future, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, and more.
