It’s that time again for everyone to reflect on the top games of the year! Among a whirlwind year of new games, the Zelda series alone treated fans with two new titles to play through: Link’s Awakening and Cadence of Hyrule. So with awards season now in full swing, let us examine the recently-announced nominees for the 2019 Game Awards.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo’s flagship fighting game, has been nominated for Game of the Year, along with a handful of other top contenders including Death Stranding and Resident Evil 2.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening has been nominated for Best Art Direction, along with games like Death Stranding, Gris, and Control. The Switch remake has also been nominated for Best Action/Adventure Game, along with titles like Borderlands 3Resident Evil 2, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Cadence of Hyrule has been nominated for Best Score/Music, along with the likes of Kingdom Hearts III and Devil May Cry 5.

You can vote on all of the nominees right here or via Google here.

I’m hoping that the Zelda series can take home a few awards this year! You can watch the sixth-annual Game Awards on December 12th at 7:30 PM CST!

What do you think of the nominees this year? Did the Zelda series get a fair shake? Were there any games you feel were neglected?
