Tears of the Kingdom Wins Four Awards at Gamescom 2023, Including Best Switch Game

For those unaware, Gamescom is an annual gaming convention held in Cologne, Germany that not only celebrates the love of video games, but also what’s to come in the future. With big gaming expos like this comes the usual awards acknowledgment of top talent in the video game industry. This year’s Gamescom Awards saw the biggest star in our eyes (around these parts) manage to dominate the competition.
Of course, I’m talking about Tears of the Kingdom which managed to win pretty big at Gamescom 2023, taking home four awards. These accolades include Best Gameplay, Best Audio, Most Epic, and Best Nintendo Switch Game. The last time a Zelda game took home an award from Gamescom was all the way back in 2019 when the remake of Link’s Awakening won for Best Switch Game.
The awards recognition train has officially begun for Tears of the Kingdom, and it will not be long until the rest of the gaming world will have to acknowledge the game’s positive reception. It has already been a stacked year of video games, with the fall season of releases looming overhead. Only time will tell by the end of 2023 who else falls on the side of Nintendo’s adventure powerhouse.
