Tears of the Kingdom Takes Home Grand Prize at 2024 Japan Game Awards

Tears of the Kingdom might have released over a year ago, but that doesn’t mean it’s done receiving all due praise and accolades. In fact, the game just took home multiples awards at the 2024 Japan Game Awards. The annual awards show took place at the Tokyo Game Show, an event that draws global crowds and highlights upcoming releases.

First up, Tears of the Kingdom received the Grand Award, which is the show’s most prestigious trophy. Next up, the game bagged the Best Sales Award, having sold the most copies of any game in Japan during the 2023 fiscal year. Finally, this game also snagged an Award for Excellence (well-deserved, considering gameplay elements like Ultrahand alone) alongside 10 other competitors, including Street Fighter 6 and Final Fantasy XVI.
