For 37 years, Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards has been giving their blimp-shaped prizes to what children vote for in the world of pop culture. It wasn’t until 1995 they they introduced the award for “Favorite Video Game,” giving kids a chance to let the world know what game’s they love playing. While titles in the Zelda series like Ocarina of Time and Spirit Tracks have been nominated before, no game in the franchise has won.
It looks like there’s a chance once again for Zelda to take home some gold as they have recently revealed the 2024 nominations for Nickelodeon’s award show and Tears of the Kingdom has been nominated for “Favorite Video Game.” Other games nominated for this Kids’ Choice Award include Just Dance 2024, Madden NFL 24, Minecraft, Roblox, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The biggest competition for Tears of the Kingdom is in the form of Minecraft, as that title is looking for its fifth award (and third consecutive win) in this category.
Voting for the Nickelodeon 2024 Kids’ Choice Awards is currently open and can be done at the official website for the awards ceremony. The show itself will be airing live on Saturday, July 13, at 8pm EST/PST across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, Nick Jr., TV Land, CMT, and MTV2. This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke, the voices of SpongeBob and Patrick from SpongeBob SquarePants respectively.
