The whole idea of instruments in the Zelda series has been around since the early games but it really became popular with Ocarina of Time. The ocarina in this game allowed players to do so many different things, such as solving puzzles, fast travelling, changing the weather and changing the time. These sorts of things were carried over into games like Majora’s Mask, The Wink Waker and Twilight Princess. Other games in the series have used musical instruments too, just not to the extent of…

With Nintendo recently revealing some information on the NX and what was long called Zelda U, there have been many mixed reactions from fans. Basically Zelda U won’t be Wii U exclusive, it will also be releasing on the NX. For me personally I don’t really care as I will be without a doubt purchasing both day one but for the fans out there who bought a Wii U mainly for the new Zelda game, then they may feel slightly…

The Legend Of Zelda is a series with a very rich and deep narrative. The story behind each game and how they link together is truly one of the chains that make the series whole. To be completely honest I think a Zelda novel series would be great. I imagine that the best way they could do it would make a book for each game, going chronologically starting from Skyward Sword. If this was the way they decided to go then…

Generally, the Zelda series keeps a low rating on their games. With the exception of darker games like Twlight Princess and Majoras Mask, the games in the series have a pretty light story with themes suitable to all ages. If a game was released that had a higher rating and some mature themes however, that would cut of a portion of the fan base. To be honest though, I think that most of the fan base is made up of players who would…

The Legend of Zelda has generally stuck to the action/adventure genre. I’m personally happy with keeping it like that. It’s what I’m familiar with and it’s what I’m used to. Others however, may be a bit more creative and wish for a different experience in a Zelda title. In Link’s Crossbow Training we saw First Person Shooter gameplay. Implementing this into a Zelda game may not necessarily be a bad thing. Stealth is also an interesting genre that could work well…

It is widely known at this point that Link got his name from his position as the player’s “link” to the world each game takes place in. To many fans, his position as the series’ avatar means he should not have much cahracter to him, as it would take away from the immersion. Others say the the developers ought to personalize him more, for a number of reasons, often regarding the advancement of the games’ various plots. In this week’s…

The dungeons of a Zelda game– the series of challenges set out for Link in either a linear or non-linear fashion– are really what makes the game. Whether it’s collecting fused shadows, medallions, or spiritual stones, there is always some objective and motivation for Link to trudge through these labyrinths and a lot of things come into account when creating the ideal dungeon. There’s the music to set the atmosphere, the theme, the enemies, the puzzles, and the difficulty (which…

Hyrule is generally the area that pops into your head when you think of a Zelda game. It has become as iconic as Link and the Master Sword and rightfully so. In upcoming Zelda games it would be interesting to have not only Hyrule to explore but other lands as well. When it all comes down to it though, Hyrule is generally the safest option when it comes to Zelda games as it’s what people are used to, and it…

Throughout the Legend Of Zelda series, we never get much in-game background information on Link. Usually he’s just there, no past reflections, nothing. To be completely honest with you it doesn’t really bother me much that we don’t learn a whole lot about his early life. However, it would be interesting for a game to reflect on Link’s decisions as a young child and maybe have flash backs of his distant past– just to give us snippets of what he was like…

Hyrule has provided refuge for a plethora of unique and important races throughout its history. We’ve met with Zoras, Gorons, Kokiri, Hylians, Deku, Picori, Koroks, Rito, Kikwi, Gerudo, Twili, and Sheikahs– just to name a few. No matter how long the list of races, each manages to be important to the game or games it appears in and fully developed both visually and culturally. Just when I think the Zelda series can’t possibly create another distinctly memorable race, one appears…
