Austin “PeanutButterGamer” Hargrave’s fifth annual Zelda Month continues with not only the first countdown of the lot, but also a deeper look at an infamous cult gem. The former, specifically, is a collaborative video in which he and Game Theory’s Matthew Patrick run down their least favorite pieces of equipment from throughout the series. From downright useless items such as the Deku Nuts to those with particularly frustrating properties — I’m looking at you, Giant’s Knife — it’s a solid…

The best video game franchises always have the best fans– and therefore the best fan made games. We’ve seen many a fan made Zelda game strewn across the internet; some are altered versions of cannon games, and others are total originals. Whatever the case, most are memorable and unique adventures. Youtube personality, ConnerTheWaffle recently published a video in which he discusses his Top 5 fan made Zelda games, citing some for being an interesting new perspective of a classic game…

Next to bosses, dungeons are the thing I look forward to most while playing any Zelda game, old or new. For me, the most memorable and fun dungeons to replay are those that possess unique qualities or break conventions set forth by previous titles. Most of these temples, palaces, and caves do not adhere to a strict structure, and are designed however the enclosure can best maximize puzzle and enemy count. That’s all well and good, but to me, the…

In a series like Zelda, with so many foes of every variety — villains, bosses, and regular enemies — it’s no surprise that not all of them are that well fleshed-out. The vast majority of bosses are never elaborated upon, though even as early as A Link to the Past you had a boss with an actual backstory in Blind. The villains, while they often have plenty of story details to their name, can also tend to be very simplistic…

My username is Axle the Beast, so it honestly shouldn’t be all that difficult to figure out that I have a thing for monsters. I’ve loved creatures of all shapes and sizes since before I can remember. I spent a portion of October reviewing them on my website, and before that I wrote an article similar to this one, counting town my top 10 Resident Evil monsters. With Zelda, choosing my favorites was harder because what defines a good monster…

Hey there guys! Got a new mailbag for you! Sorry for the delay again. I actually got sick. Either way, it’s here now. This mailbag covers a wide array of topics over 12 questions, including a few familiar topics like voice-acting, difficulty, and Twilight Princess. I’m going to start having a very specific question I ask you guys to give your answers to in particular every episode… or rather just making it more official. Enjoy! You can watch the video…

On September 22nd, Japanese publication My Navi posted the results of a poll they had conducted. They had surveyed the favorite Nintendo franchises for both Japanese men and women, and lo and behold The Legend of Zelda does indeed rank fairly high. How could it not considering its immense library of releases and several blockbuster hits? It seems as if Zelda is a bigger hit for the men than for the women, as it is second only to the Super…

The Zelda series is one that prides itself on whimsical and fantastical ideas, so it should be no surprise that there are plenty of weird characters. Among those characters, however, are ones that are less than comforting. Three months ago I wrote another character list detailing what I believed to be the most annoying characters in the Zelda series. This list is in exactly the same style, except we’re going with the most disturbing. A couple of characters were brought…

You’ve probably seen that article title before. I suppose the biggest reason for that is because Zelda’s a game with a lot of freaking characters. Aside from that, it’s also a series that tends to prize its own ability to be hilarious and/or weird. (Yes I am speaking of the series like an entity and that isn’t hypocritical at all.) Because of these two things, the series ends up having loads of weird character all over the place with a…

Recently, IGN made a list of the top 100 video game weapons. The list started it’s countdown with the Gunblade from Final Fantasy VIII and continued until it came to the number one spot. Featuring countless classic and new weapons from many different video game series, the list had everything from the Pokeball which came in at 55 to Darksider’s Chaoseater which came in at 83. Although I don’t completely agree with a lot of the placements on the list…
