Digital Foundry has put together some videos examining the framerate of The Wind Waker HD, as well as a comparison of the graphics on the HD and original Gamecube versions. There is quite a noticeable difference, and seeing the HD version next to it certainly brings out the… worse points in the Gamecube game’s visuals. Check out the videos after the jump!

Over the last few years, Nintendo has been steadily revamping and reworking Zelda games of the past. In 2013 we saw the release of Wind Waker HD, a full-fledged HD remake of the Gamecube classic with up-res’d graphics and beautiful new lighting effects. Seeing the quality work the Zelda team can do with an HD remake, it’s no surprise fans want to see the same process done to other games in the series. Two of the most popular titles due for an upgrade are Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, so we’re going to let you share about which one you think is more deserving of the HD treatment…

When you look at this image of Link, what colors make up his clothing? Think you know the answer? Well, what if I told you that the internet just can’t decide on the colors of this mysterious garment? These are the Hero’s New Clothes, and no one can agree on their actual color. Some say the outfit is simply blue and white, but others swear they see a different set of colors. Through countless hours of heated arguments and fruitless analyses, we still can’t figure it out. No matter how sick we are of these types of arguments, we still want a good reason why each person perceives the Hero’s New Clothes differently…

Nintendo has had an iffy history with gamers using their IPs on YouTube, to say the least.  After vocally establishing that they did not condone this, they turned around and announced they would soon be building a program through which YouTube content creators would be able to share advertising profits with Nintendo.  After several months, the company has finally opened a beta of its program, and has begun accepting applications…

First 4 Figures, a company that makes high-quality gaming figurines, have recently anounced on their Facebook page that they’ll release a new series of figures based on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker starting on January 20th.

The only figure they’ve shown off so far is Ganondorf, who you can see in the photo to the left. Outside of him, we’ll see all the others within a few days…

Dungeons. They’re essential to any Zelda game. So naturally, I have to ask: what is the perfect number of dungeons to have in a Zelda title? Some fans love as many dungeons as can be crammed into a single game, others may want as few as possible, and still more may want a happy medium…

Last month, Jakks Pacific revealed more action figures from their World of Nintendo line, which features characters from Nintendo’s biggest franchises. In a recent interview, senior designer Jose Alvarez and marketing brand manager Justin Mills-Orcutt took the time to answer some questions regarding the new Nintendo figures to be released this year. The interview featured more photos of upcoming releases, including a 6″ Wind Waker Ganondorf figure. I will say right now that it sure is interesting to see Ganondorf placed next to a giant Metroid…

Hello everyone, and welcome to a new series of editorials where I will be talking about level design in Zelda games! Here’s how this series will work:

Each week (roughly, there’s not a set schedule for these), I will highlight a single dungeon in any given Zelda game and talk about its level design. The title of the series should clue you in that I’m focusing on “brilliant” level design. I’m looking for unique ideas, great ways of teaching the player without spelling it out, character progression, clever item usage, mind-bending puzzles, and memorable boss fights.

Today I’ll be focusing on one of my favorite dungeons from one of my favorite Zelda games: A Link Between Worlds’ Dark Palace.

Nintendo of America recently tweeted a graph that takes a jab at other gaming consoles by pointing out just how much better the games are on the Wii U and the 3DS. It makes the point that, between the 3DS and the Wii U, there are 19 different games with a Metascore of 85 and above, while the PS Vita, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One all put together have a grand total of 8.

As you can see here, three of the games listed are Zelda titles, proving just how good the series is at providing quality games: there’s Wind Waker HD, A Link Between Worlds, and Ocarina of Time 3D, and we all know that Zelda U would make the list if it was already out…
