When one ponders the possibility of a Zelda television series or movie, the general idea that pops into one’s head is an adaptation of one of the games, likely Ocarina of Time. The story would follow the events from the game, with the viewers following Link around on his adventure and Navi as his sidekick; the show would also likely implement plenty of creative license to better flesh-out the characters and locations and enhance the dialogue from the way it appeared in the 1998 original…

In the recent E3 2014 reveal of Palutena (Kid Icarus) as a new playable character for Super Smash Bros., we were treated to a gorgeous animation sequence in which our hero Link clashed swords with Pit. Should this be a continued endeavor? Head inside to read more and see the video.

The marketing campaign for the newest Zelda title has expanded to the United Kingdom, where they’ve received a brand new television advertisement featuring some awesome footage of the game! This follows yesterday’s release of an advertisement in the United States, and certainly serves its purpose in making me want to buy the game! Though I haven’t seen any advertisements for the game on TV yet, it’s great to see that they’re out there on a global scale! Check it out…

A few days back, the Xbox Facebook page—presumably due to Xbox Live’s ability to view the program—posted a reminder that a “roast” of actor James Franco was going to be airing on Comedy Central, and for whatever reason they saw fit to mention Franco’s apparent love for the Legend of Zelda franchise. According to the page, “James Franco once said that The Legend of Zelda helped him get through some ‘difficult times.’

As many happily surprised commentors pointed out, it’s a little odd to see an Xbox page posting positive remarks about a competitor’s franchise. If I had to guess, I’d say that Microsoft just wants to entice their fanbase to watch the Franco roast by relating it to video games, plain-and-simple.

Though, as one insightful commentor conjectures, perhaps the entire scenario is just a sneaky way for Valve to announce Half-Life 3. What do you think the intentions behind this Facebook post were?

On a recent Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, a guest music artist performed a very special Legend of Zelda remix. After Zedd and Foxes performed “Clarity”, Zedd went to his DJ booth to present a full tribute to the original NES title, with an electronic remix of the main theme and with a spectacular visual show that highlights the original 8 bit sprites. Hit the jump to watch it performed!

The Legend of Zelda has had a lasting impact on the video game industry as well as many aspiring and successful developers. There’s no denying that the franchise’s imprint is forever embedded in gaming and in the hearts of many gamers, as Djinn pointed out in his recent article on culture and Zelda. Today I’m going to elaborate on this idea and provide some more examples outside of gaming where the franchise rears its head. It has truly become a…

Here we have a comical video put together by YouTube user twilitprincess. She took clips from cut scenes of Skyward Sword and edited sound and music to go with specific parts of the video. Some of the sounds featured in the video were taken from Spongebob, the movie Happy Gilmore, the song Sexy and I Know It, and more. Altogether, it’s a rather interesting compilation. Younger viewers are cautioned before watching the video, because not all the language is appropriate….
