Max Gleason, better known for his stage name Smooth McGroove, is a YouTube artist recognized for recording a capella versions of video game songs. He did something really special with the Hyrule Castle theme from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Head inside to read more about it!

YouTube singer, Smooth McGroove, has released another Zelda based a cappella video, this one being a cover of the home theme present in Ocarina of Time onwards. This songs serves an addition to the singers every growing list of Zelda pieces. The singer (along with his cat) has released nearly 100 covers of various video game themes, from Zelda to Street Fighter, and overall a wide variety of Nintendo music has been covered. This guy is incredible—he keeps doing what he does to the best of his abilities. Once again, Smooth has covered a Zelda theme and it’s a timeless classic. The House theme has been an ongoing theme since it debuted in OoT, and Smooth works his magic pipes to perfection by covering it. If you aren’t familiar with Smooth, he arranges and performs video game a capella pieces, and if you can’t guess by now, they are quite incredible. Dragon Roost A Capella

If you have ever played The Wind Waker then you know the popular Dragon Roost Island theme. It’s upbeat, quick, and is something to tap your foot to. Well, YouTube user Smooth McGroove has created his own A Capella version of it completely by himself. Hit the jump to listen!

I still remember taking my first steps into the beautiful Kokiri Forest in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo 64. All these years later, the music from that little town brings a smile to my face.

By now, you’ve surely heard at least one Zelda cover by Smooth McGroove, the bearded saint with the voice of a thousand angels who sings a cappella arrangements of video game music. One year ago he began his YouTube career with an Ocarina of Time cover, and this week, he’s decided to celebrate his YouTube anniversary and sing the song of the forest children for the very same game. I imagine you are familiar with Smooth McGroove. He is internet-famous for doing one-person a capellas of famous video game music pieces. Some of his previous works include a rendition of the Kirby: Super Star’s Gourmet Race theme, the Tetris Theme, and F-Zero‘s Mute City theme. However, his most recent song is particularly near and dear to many a Zelda fans’ hearts: the Lost Woods theme from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. And, if I may say, it is particularly well-done. Do you like this song as much as I do? If it isn’t apparent, I really like this song.

Zelda fans are multitalented individuals! They crochet, sew plushies, forge swords out of fiberglass, foam and metal, play instruments, draw and so much more. How hard is it to actually sing in acapella? Sure, it may seem like a breeze considering all you need is your sole voice with a good note range yet give it a try and you may find it’s quite a struggle to reach some strenuous notes.
