Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is only two days away, and the hype is strong with this one. Perhaps the most beloved multiplayer game for Nintendo fans, Super Smash Bros. asks players to break fighting game conventions and instead of whittling away at HP, to knock their opponents off of a given stage. Here at ZI, we’ve had a good amount of time to play through the game’s plethora of modes and challenges, and let me tell you, Zelda fans will not be disappointed.

Since we have a review copy of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, we get to post a bit of information about certain aspects of the game. One of the ways we have decided to use our time is in recording all the victory poses for every Legend of Zelda character. The videos are posted to…

Nintendo has unveiled wave three of the Amiibo line of figures, and it contains two Zelda characters: Sheik and Toon Link! The two figures will be coming early next year alongside nine other Smash Bros. characters. Make the jump to check out some pictures of the figures, as well a video overview from Nintendo and release window.

Ocarina of Time was revolutionary in its own right as the first 3D Zelda and pioneering a video gaming style which would later be recreated in series such as Okami and Starfox. Another revolutionary point which current developers could perhaps still learn from is the plethora of strong, balanced female characters. Initially I wanted to write about the Gerudo tribe, and perhaps focus on their status as an all-female society. As I thought more and more about the direction this would take, I realised that despite the Gerudos’ status as a literal warrior race, the other females featured in Ocarina of Time are no strangers to courage, strength, and conflict, and it would be unfair to exclude them from an article as such. Seeing these women as developed characters and often excellent role models is amazing for a game released in 1998, when the gaming industry still seems to struggle sometimes with exactly that, today in 2015.

Sheik and Zelda have always been the same character – both in Ocarina of Time, Smash Bros., and even yes (spoiler warning)… Hyrule Warriors. That has changed in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS… because of the 3DS. Just like the Ice Climbers were cut due to limitations of the 3DS hardware, so too were characters that could transform – basically, Sheik and Zelda along with Samus and Zero Suite Samus. Any character that had multiple forms would need those forms to be their own character, or not be present at all, if they wanted to really keep platform…

The October 3rd release of Super Smash Bros. is drawing close for Europe and North America. As most fans know, Link has been given a Fierce Deity costume for use in matches, but what about the other characters from our beloved series? Check out Link’s, Toon Link’s, Princess Zelda’s, Sheik’s, and Ganondorf’s costumes after the jump! Stephen ChristopherI’m 18 years old, residing in Staten Island, New York; fairly close to the city. I’m an avid Legend of Zelda fan, and…

In the E3 Trailer for Zelda Wii U the gauntlets Link wears are similar in design to the Gerudo armour worn by Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time, hinting that the Gerudo race may play a part in the upcoming title or that the game may be relatively close to Ocarina of Time in the Legend of Zelda Timeline. Ganondorf is the most recurring main villain in the console series and by far the most memorable to long time players of…

Always a hot topic amongst Zelda fans, Sheik’s gender has been discussed since the character’s debut in Ocarina of Time. However, Nintendo’s own Bill Trinen has decisively put the argument to rest with a statement that clarifies Sheik’s gender. So, what’s the verdict? NOTE: If you have yet to beat Ocarina of Time and want to avoid any spoilers, you might want to shy away from the rest. Otherwise, hit the jump to find out!

This has been a topic of debate in the Zelda fan base since 1998. We’ve written many editorials about it and even had it as a fairly recent Daily Debate topic when talking about Hyrule Warriors. As of today we now have an official stance from Nintendo, one that puts the entire debate to bed. Is Sheik a female? Is Sheik a male (through the power of magical transformation)? We now know. Bill Trinen, Nintendo’s senior product marketing manager and the main guy we’ve seen publicly as the official translator for Shigeru Miyamoto in the United States, has given Nintendo’s official stance…

Lately, we’ve posted lots of news about Hyrule Warriors, and it seems it’s not going to end any soon. The Nintendo Console Gaming Facebook page released character overviews for Darunia, Ruto, Sheik, and Gohma, consisting in a short description about each one.
