With Majora’s Mask 3D‘s release date a mere two weeks away, fans are hyping it up like there is no tomorrow. It’s no surprise that this game managed to take fourth place on Famitsu’s Most Wanted Games list. The highly anticipated 3D remake gained over 586 votes on the Famitsu website between January 8th and January 14th. The large amount of votes are a good sign for the increasing popularity of the Zelda series…

Remakes have been weighing heavily on the minds of Zelda fans lately. From those of use here at Zelda Informer who want to know if remakes are done too much, to our fellow gamers at Game Informer who can’t help but wonder what’s next after Majora’s Mask, all are curious about what game will be getting made over for a new system for another batch of fans waiting to experience it. It is, however, well-known that those who most fervently wish for remakes are those who love the originals, even over a decade after their releases. Does that love still remain once fans’ wishes for a fresh version of an old adventure come true? 

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is coming out this year along with the New Nintendo 3DS system. Aonuma said that the game will take advantage of the new features of the NN3DS, but he didn’t explain how. So there’s only room left for speculation. The New Nintendo 3DS…

Update: It’s worth noting that it was never actually announced for a February release date. The trailer had stated that it was a Spring 2015 release. It was just initially listed for a February 15th release on the Nintendo of Europe website. Lauded as the most original entry in the Zelda franchise in years, A Link Between Worlds managed to be a sequel to the classic A Link to the Past, a breath of fresh air to those who just wanted something different from the series and a callback to the tougher games of Zelda‘s early years. This perfect storm of nostalgia and innovation is one of the many aspects that makes both this game and The Legend of Zelda series in general so memorable, but it’s hard to say whether one is more important than the other.

Many Zelda fans, including myself, were hoping that Nintendo would surprise us with the announcement of a Majora’s Mask remake during Treehouse Live, which took place this past week.
