The same way that Majora’s Mask somewhat lived in the shadow of Ocarina of Time, Link’s Awakening had the task of following up A Link to the Past. On top of that, it was the first game in the series to appear on a handheld gaming console. These conditions made Link’s Awakening a game that slipped through the cracks, in my opinion. It’s one of my favorite Zelda games, and usually I don’t love classic Zelda titles so that’s saying…

Since yesterday’s discovery of a Twilight Princess icon on the Wii U eShop, speculation regarding the prospect of an HD remake has run rampant. Several pundits within the Zelda fan community, including HMK and the folks at GameXplain, have chimed in with their thoughts. Take a listen, as well as read my senseless conjecture, after the jump!

Over the past couple of years there have been several Zelda games given a new lick of paint, been given some extra content and re-released for current platforms. Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask and The Wind Waker all got the remake treatment but some people would like to see the older games given a new lease on life. Hyrule Warriors did many things that hardcore Zelda fans were not used to, most of which regarding the actual gameplay, but one thing many approved of was taking the original series bosses from The Legend of Zelda, and remaking them into awesome, high-definition creatures. If there is one element that I love about Nintendo, it’s that they listen to their fans. Legend of Zelda boss Eiji Aonuma recently told us in an interview by GameSpot that the next remake could be largely influenced by what the fans want.

He said Nintendo has always paid attention to what fans expect from them. Aonuma was excited to work on Majora’s Mask 3D to begin with, but was also enthused with all the support from fans who didn’t even know if the project was even happening, he said…
