Whattup, ZI fans? It’s time again for another entry in our weekly Photoshop Contest. I don’t know about you, but I am absolutely stoked to watch Straight Outta Compton tonight. With this hit film releasing this weekend, we figured there was no better time than now to infuse some West Coast rap attitudes into the Zelda series. So if you want to ‘shop some hip-hop images of Link and the posse, grab an 8-Ball and head inside. We’ll of course also take a look at the retro goodness from last week’s contest: Pixel Adventure

This isn’t quite a story about a kid from West Philadelphia movin’ with his auntie and uncle in Bel Air, but it is a fresh tale about a boy from Outset Island. YouTube channel Versus recently brought us a poppin’ parody of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song, retelling the start of Link’s adventure in The Wind Waker. So we’d like to take a minute, just sit right there, and let Versus tell you about how Link became the hero of kingdom called Hyrule…

Warning: Video contains strong language.

Among Zelda fans, Ocarina of Time’s music has an iconic feel. One of the more memorable songs in the game is the Castle Town theme (the song that plays in the market before reaching Hyrule Castle). As with everything iconic, however, fans will work their magic. Whether it is a drawing of a certain epic scene, a cosplay of a fan favorite character, or a remix of a catchy song, fans are always making creative pieces of art. That is the case in this particular instance: a rap remix of the Castle Town theme from Ocarina of Time…

Egoraptor and friends have created a rap album and week-by-week are uploading videos to go along with the hilarious tunes. This week the Zelda song was up, and though it’s pretty crass, overall it’s absolutely hilarious. If you know Egoraptor already, the video series is similar to his usual style, but in catchy, hip-hop form. Hit the jump to watch!

Nintendo is bringing back some of the oldies from when A Link to the Past came out. The famous rap commercial from the 80’s has made a comeback, but this time it is for A Link Between Worlds. It makes sense that this would be brought back to advertise for the sequel of A Link to the Past. There are currently two commercials done by the same music artists, but have had the lyrics edited to fit the gameplay of…

A few days ahead of its intended release, Eminem’s new album, The Marshall Mathers LP2 was leaked to the Internet, and in one of the songs Eminem mentions Zelda. It’s in the context of video games and technology, but a reference nonetheless. It’s great to see Zelda appear in other areas of pop culture, not just among the video game community. It tells us that despite the arguments we have, as passionate Zelda fans, the series is still running strong….

Indie Hip-Hop artist Dr. Awkward has recently put out his own rap album dedicated to the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Titled, A Boy Without a Fairy, the album is samples many of the most memorable songs from the game, filled with rap lyrics related to Link’s adventure. I’ve listened to some of the tracks and honestly, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Some of the songs really caught on and I enjoyed, while others, just seemed forced….

Zelda-themed music albums are usually a delight to listen to and this uniquely created composition work is worth taking a look at. Converging Ocarina of Time Zelda melody with popular rap artists, producer Team Teamwork turns this album, The Ocarina of Rhyme, into a never-heard-before music experience. Even if you’re not a big fan of hip hop conversing with Zelda be sure to check this out as it is quite a good listen; the production work is brilliant! You can…

The dungeon theme from the original The Legend of Zelda game is one of those tunes that gets stuck in your head for hours or even days sometimes. It would be nice to have words to sing to go along with the tune. Hotdogsurprise on YouTube thought it would be fun to add some lyrics and rap with the dungeon theme as backing music. A catchy rap set to a catchy tune sounds like a hit especially when the rapper…

Back in November of 2011, the folks over at Smosh released a Legend of Zelda parody rap video. The video has been a huge success and is one of the most viewed Legend of Zelda clips ever on YouTube having garnered over 25 million views. In a recent interview with Robin and Zelda Williams, the two watch the rap video and give their reaction. Turns out Zelda Williams is such a Zelda fan that she actually already saw the video…
