Operation Rainfall, the popular campaign to bring Majora’s Mask to the 3DS, is a thing of the past now, but looking back at it, there was a lot of great artists that created some awesome material to bring more attention to the Operation. One of them, Lyndon Willoughby, made easily some of the most notable contributions through the successful Kickstarter and distribution of Operation Moonfall printed posters. There were a few different ones, and they sold quite well. Nowadays, though,…

Immediately following the official announcement of Majora’s Mask 3D, long-time supporters of a Majora’s Mask remake went through a flurry of thoughts, emotions, and questions; some wanted to know for how long this game had been gestating, others were simply and shock, but nearly all were elated. Not the least of these fans were the ardent supporters of the Operation Moonfall movement.

For those who are unaware of this movement…

There is plenty to be excited about as a Zelda fan right now. We have new Mario Kart 8 related DLC hitting next Thursday, future DLC packs coming for Hyrule Warriors, extra content thanks to Amiibos, our favorite Zelda characters battling it out against other gaming icons in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U later this month, Zelda U hitting towards the end of next year, NES Remix content, and now Majora’s Mask 3D early in 2015.

With so much to talk about you would figure there would be great balances in the Zelda fan kingdom, but instead a lot of focus has been put on Majora’s Mask 3D. We can point to several reasons for this, especially in this community of ours, but a lot of it is likely due in part to our inherent connection to Operation Moonfall, which I and several others have previously stated was a success. As it turns out, the game has been in development before Eiji Aonuma asked for fan support, but that doesn’t mean Operation Moonfall was a failure – rather it means that unknowingly the movement played right into Nintendo’s hands. Operation Moonfall’s biggest accomplishment isn’t getting the game made (it was already happening), but it was becoming the marketing arm for Nintendo.

This week’s big news is, hands down, Majora’s Mask 3D being announced, but now that the whole “Operation Moonfall” project has successfully won Nintendo’s attention enough for a remake release, what other games might we expect remakes of? Should there be any more remakes at all? Join the discussion after the jump!

Update: It’s worth noting that it was never actually announced for a February release date. The trailer had stated that it was a Spring 2015 release. It was just initially listed for a February 15th release on the Nintendo of Europe website. I’m sure we are all aware that Majora’s Mask is now being remade for the 3DS as there have been many articles here on Zelda Dungeon recently providing info on the game that has been dreamt of since…

Last September a Kickstarter project had been started by Lyndon Willoughby to fund a poster series. This series is a collection of unofficial Operation Moonfall posters commemorating all the project had done for the fan base. Finally, after ten months of waiting, the posters are ready to be purchased. Hit the jump to get the link to the online store, and to see some of the art being sold!

Operation Moonfall, the continuing campaign to get a 3D remake of Majora’s Mask, has just received a rather large update. The people running the Operation have given new opportunities for fans to get involved and show Nintendo that they are serious when they say that Majora’s Mask should have a remake. Check out the campaign news after the jump!

Operation Moonfall, a movement we helped create, is still pushing forward with a full head of a steam as we creep closer to E3. They have two completely free campaigns coming up and a full press release to describe all of the events. Of note, they would really like you to follow them on Twitter, as much of the campaign work will be communicated there. Head inside to see what amazing things are being planned for Majora’s Mask fans everywhere.

Lyndon Willoughby, a notable member of the popular fan campaign Operation Moonfall recently made a statement urging fans to keep an eye on the Operation Moonfall Twitter for some big news in the upcoming week regarding a new project. The upcoming plans are a secret right now but he did mention that apparently this upcoming announcement will include some of greatest artists in the world. Jump inside to check it out for yourself.

By now, Operation Moonfall is a pretty well known project among most Zelda fans who have an internet connection, and there are many people who have already contributed to it becoming better known—this image by idleideas is one such example, as is this wonderful piece of art by Joe Hogan. Today’s piece is contributed by Spanish musician Sergio Sánchez, or PhoenixWing, who delivers this amazing arrangement of the Stone Tower Temple. It certainly provides a refreshing take on this tune, as the piano that sustains the melody is accompanied by multiple other instruments that go a little off-track to provide a very subjective impression of this much beloved song.
