Considering that we are nearly a month removed from E3 2016, I’m — admittedly — skirting the edge of timeliness here. Heck, I’m probably well past it. In any case, I had the opportunity to spend about half an hour with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at this year’s expo. Going into the show, Link’s next adventure was just about the only game on my mind. I mean, I was looking forward to other titles, but my…

With E3 being literally right around the corner, I say let the speculation begin! In all honesty I am not even sure that I would call it speculation but more like a wish list if you will from all of us faithful Zelda fans across the world. So far, we know that the next edition to the Zelda franchise will be the main attraction for Nintendo at this years E3, but what does that mean exactly? What types of goodies…

With Nintendo recently revealing some information on the NX and what was long called Zelda U, there have been many mixed reactions from fans. Basically Zelda U won’t be Wii U exclusive, it will also be releasing on the NX. For me personally I don’t really care as I will be without a doubt purchasing both day one but for the fans out there who bought a Wii U mainly for the new Zelda game, then they may feel slightly…

The leaks and/or rumors for Nintendo’s as of yet unannounced platform, the NX, are starting to ramp up more and more as we get closer to E3. This is fairly typical heading into the reveal of a new generation of hardware, as we get these sorts of leaks and rumors every single time without fail. Naturally not all of them come true (or are true in the first place), but there is often some form of truth to be found in many of them. As such we have a new batch today from a verified “leaker” named 10k on NeoGAF. He was responsible for some earlier rumors we posted, but he’s back again with a fresh batch…

With the recent Nintendo Direct confirming Zelda Wii U’s release on the Wii U console in 2016, many have been wondering, what about the NX? Nintendo has been reluctant to share more information about it, but Forbes contributor Paul Tassi sees no other option for the console than a 2016 holiday release. Therein lies the problem, if Zelda Wii U releases in fall of 2016 for only the Wii U it will be disastrous for sales once the NX launches….

When Nintendo came out with the announcement that a 2015 release for Zelda U was no longer a priority for the title, fans (myself very much included) were rather disappointed; what happened to our big 2015 title? Adding insult to injury, Aonuma added that the game would not be shown at E3, further confounding fans. Hadn’t we seen gameplay back in December at the Video Game Awards? What stopped Nintendo from showing off a bit more of how this title will play this past June?

While there are undoubtedly many out there who are still struggling to deal with the delay, I believe it’s safe to say that most have accepted that this is for the best of the game. It’s not uncommon for Zelda titles to experience lengthy delays and, while it was nice to see some “gameplay” at the VGAs, it was certainly nothing befitting of a game nearing release. With this in mind, I won’t discuss why the delay is good for Zelda U; for that, I highly recommend this article by Alex Plant from Gamnesia. Instead, I’d like to discuss the opportunities now made possible by Zelda U’s delay…

Due to the Wii U’s lackluster performance, even the most avid Nintendo fans have worried about the state of the company compared to its competition, especially after a controversial E3 showing that some people found disappointing. But many optimists have looked to 2016 with hope, anticipating the release of the new NX console, Nintendo’s plans to tap into the mobile market, and the upcoming Zelda U. As Reggie Fils-Aime said, there are going to be changes at Nintendo, and people are looking forward to what those changes might be…

I’ve been racking my brain since we finished with our Tri Force Heroes and Hyrule Warriors: Legends coverage on the first official day of E3. I won’t sugarcoat it: I wasn’t satisfied with Nintendo’s Digital Event. It lacked any major “oh yeah” moment for Wii U gamers and for 3DS it almost felt like we were getting a bunch of experimental ideas (not a bad thing) in established franchises that we’re still waiting for a major game in (Metroid).

Fan reaction says it all. The trailer for the new Metroid game on 3DS, a multiplayer shooter, is approaching 40,000 dislikes compared to a few thousand likes. There is an absolutely pathetic petition to cancel said game, which is wholly selfish. Beyond that, fans here at Zelda Informer have been rather mixed when it comes to Tri Force Heroes. A majority are okay with it, but there are plenty that are unsure or not feeling it.

Beyond that, many feel Star Fox: Zero didn’t show well in the direct, followed up by some negative reactions from the media on how it controls. Needless to say Nintendo didn’t show well at this year’s E3. Still, there is a lot of positives to take away from them this year that tell us the future is very, very bright…

Today, we at Zelda Informer kicked off our brand new YouTube video series, ZI Reacts. These videos will most likely occur whenever a major Zelda announcement happens. For our first episode, me (Editor Darrin), Copy Editor Rian, and Editor in Chief Nate discussed two major announcements that were revealed during Nintendo’s Digital Event. We also touched on an article that IGN published, but quickly took down. It contained some interesting information about Zelda U that made some a little upset…

During a Q and A session, Mr. Iwata stated pretty openly that they are looking at making the NX system become region free. This is huge news for all fans of Nintendo, but especially for Zelda fans. With Nintendo deciding to expand their IPs even more, there is a high chance of more Zelda side games, including ones that aren’t released word wide such as the Tingle series. With a region free system, that would allow gamers to import those games if they really want to play it without having to also buy a second system for that specific region. You can also see how this is a huge benefit…
