Sakurai is at it again with today’s new pic of the day for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. While I typically love his cryptic nature, we’re 24 hours or under away from the Japanese release of the 3DS game. That hasn’t stopped ol’ Sakurai from confirming a new character… or a new alt… or a clone… whatever you want to consider this to be. You know, I am not going to even bother trying to explain it, I’ll just let Sakurai do the talking…

Another week has gone by, which means that there is another week of Pic of the Day posts from Masahiro Sakurai. This has been a crazy weekend to say the least, with the official reveal of Shulk and the “not so official” one for Ganondorf. Amidst all of the chaos, we have tried to gather a weekly collection of Sakurai’s Pic of the Day. This week was more about the mechanics of the game than screenshots of the action. The details include information on the Fiend’s Scale, Spectator Mode, Challenges, and Character Customization…

Well, Sakurai has revealed even more details about Shulk and how his moves will work. After this morning’s reveal, he posted on Miiverse regarding the newcomer’s fighting abilities. It seems that he will have two different fighting modes: one with his Monado activated, and one using the Monado arts. The Monado activated gives him a longer range sword attack. However, Sakurai points out that the Monado arts are what is most interesting about Shulk because there are five different arts he can use…

Masahiro Sakurai has revealed a new feature of the Gerudo Valley stage in the 3DS version of the upcoming Super Smash Bros. As was revealed in the recent Nintendo Direct, almost every stage will have its own Final Destination mode, leaving a blank, unobstructed platform to fight on, and Gerudo Valley is one of those special stages.
