When it came to the player’s transportation method, it’s always been pretty varied. However, no other game had quite the same method as Skyward Sword did. In Skyward Sword, you had to fly to get from place-to-place. With the cloud barrier below, the only way to enter a particular location was to fly over it, and skydive into it. This was a first for the Zelda series, but with that idea laid out on the table, would it be wise…

Throughout almost every Zelda game, Link has always had a companion that could take him from point A to point B. He could even just spin in circles, if he really wanted to- either way his companion acted as his way of transportation. And as we know, we’ve seen quite a few companions Link can use as transportation- so the question is, which do you prefer? Do you prefer galloping throughout Hyrule, or sailing above it? Perhaps even flying above…

First 4 Figures today revealed the newest Legend of Zelda Statue and it comes in the form of Link on Loftwing, from Skyward Sword. This is an absolute massively sized statue with dimensions of 26″ by 22″ by 25″, making it the largest Zelda statue that First 4 Figures has created, even larger than the enormous Ganondorf Statue. This comes at a price as the statue is slated to cost $459.99 with a limited run of 2500 statues. The statue…

Companions have been a near constant feature in The Legend of Zelda ever since Ocarina of Time, when Navi was introduced. Since then, there have been many other companions featured within the world of Zelda. But what defines a companion, and what exactly are their roles throughout the games? Does Epona qualify as a companion? What about your Loftwing? Hit the jump to find out what I think!

Would You Rather: Edition I

November 07 2013 by Cassie

Welcome to the first installment of “Would you rather!” This is a new weekly discussion topic wherein I present and detail two scenarios from any of the Zelda games and you decide which one you would rather undertake for real. Sounds pretty simple, right? We’re going to have some really fun match-ups from here on out and it gives you a chance to think about Zelda in a real life context. I’ll provide some examples of what you could do…

The Triforce is probably one of the most recognisable symbols in all of gaming and it is one of my favourites, my key ring is of the Triforce complete with the bird motif. For many years I wondered what the bird part of the symbol represents and, with the release of Skyward Sword in 2011, what it was meant to represent was clear: the Loftwing. Now, thanks to a post by Did You Know Gaming, the inspiration behind these creatures…

Hello readers! Brian here with the fourth installment of “The Best and Worst of Zelda.” This topic has been requested by multiple people, and I thought it deserved some recognition. Remember to comment your ideas for next week! So without further ado, ladies and gentleman, your article. It’s slowly becoming another piece to the Zelda formula; the way Link travels through overworlds seems to be changing by the game, and for no good reason, but as the worlds get bigger…

Sometimes things in video games are backwards. Often they’re intentionally backwards for ironic and comedic effect, and these are usually obvious to the player. Other times, though, situations in games can be backwards by accident, such as this example from Skyward Sword. Alex from Corpse Run Comics seems to do a good job finding these kinds of things in the Zelda series, even if we may have all considered the ideas when we were playing. Hit the jump to read the comic!

In preparation for Easter Sunday, Nintendo of America has been running a series of Nintendo Easter Eggs on their Twitter and Facebook pages. These have included everything from nifty control options in Nintendo Land to cool design choices. A recent feature about Skyward Sword was one of the latter. While a number of Skyward Sword‘s quirks and references were caught by fans almost immediately out of the gate, this specific design piece was actually pretty under the radar. In case…

Considering you probably noticed the immense amounts of red, pink, and chocolate around over the past few days, I doubt I need to point out to anyone that Valentine’s Day was just last Thursday. In light of the official “romance day” celebrated by couples everywhere, today seemed like a good day to focus on a more romantic Zelda tune than usual. Now, making assumptions about Link’s love interests is a larger can of worms than I ever want to get…
