When thinking up editorials, my mind tends to stray towards the same games: The Wind Waker always seems like a good option, I always have something to say about Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess, and I never tire of talking about my personal favorite title in the series, A Link to the Past. I try to avoid repeating myself, but it keeps getting harder and harder to think of something fresh. So, when brainstorming for my latest editorial I thought…

A few of the recent Favorite Zelda Moments posts I’ve written have covered fairly obscure moments that I’m not sure a ton of people would have considered one of their favorites — such as fricken’ Moldarach — but this one’s different; nearly everyone knows about the introductory portion of A Link to the Past and I’d be surprised if there were not a number of people who loved this part of the game. This section is what the game starts…

Anyone who has played The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past can instantly recognize the iconic introduction where the floating pieces of the Triforce come together and the Master Sword pierces the “Z” in “Zelda.” But have you seen this before in HD? This video, uploaded by YouTube user tpfalcon14, depicts just that. Make the jump to see the video!

It shouldn’t need to be stated that any video game must have an introduction. There are many ways of constructing these early sections of a game, but for a game to have a middle and an end it must have a beginning, regardless of what form that beginning takes. Zelda games are no exception and there have been both good and bad introductory segments throughout the series. Some people have criticized the lengthy introductions found in games like The Wind…

A few weeks ago, we got a glimpse of the introduction of the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. This time, the full introduction of Skyward Sword was offically released by Nintendo. Unlike the Spanish version of the intro, the video is clear to see, and we are able to see more of the intro. There is one slight problem, the introduction is completely in Japanese. However, thanks to the folks over at Gamefaqs, we now have a translation of the…

Many Zelda fans cringe at the lengthy introductory area that made up Twilight Princess. They hated herding goats… multiple times… finding baby cradles, fishing for the first time, or chasing kids into the woods. It was slow, somewhat boring, and just way too long. Then when the action finally got going, it seemed there was a subsequent introductory area, this time for Link’s Wolf Form in Hyrule Castle. Argh. Just the thought of playing the intro area has caused me…

If you watched Nintendo’s presentation at the E3 conference then this is old news, but that doesn’t change the fact that this beautiful piece of music is worth listening to again. The orchestration commemorates The Legend of Zelda’s 25th anniversary. If you haven’t yet seen this orchestra play this beautiful piece then you are in for a treat. Please enjoy.

The A Link to the Past Story page has been completely overhauled and now includes some detailed text and several fancy images. Among all the Zelda games, A Link to the Past was one of the only ones to have such an elaborate backstory found only in the game’s manual. We’ve nearly replicated the backstory pages from the manual, as well as the game’s introduction followed by a full summary of the in-game storyline, with several illustrations. The A Link…
