Many videogames borrow from world mythology for their settings, enemies, items and so on. The Legend of Zelda is no stranger to this. It frequently borrows from Japanese mythology, European folklore and many other places. Majora’s Mask took a very different route with this, much like many other things in the game and borrowed plenty of things whose roots are African. Gaijin Goombah takes a look at this in three parts, starting with the bosses. Watch the video after the…

Throughout the history of the Zelda, series there have been many Links. With the addition of Hyrule Warriors we are now anywhere from 11 to 14, depending on if you count Young Link (Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask) and Adult Link (Ocarina of Time) as separate Links in addition to the non-canon Hyrule Warriors and Super Smash Bros. incarnations. But with all of those heroes with all their different abilities, powers, and equipment, there must be one of them who stands…

Back in late November, a new episode of the popular YouTube series, Game Theory, relating to Majora’s Mask was released. Game Theory tackled Majora’s Mask before with its episode that asked whether Link might already be dead, but this episode was all about the moon. Apparently, real-world science says Termina’s doom at the hands of its moon is not as certain as the game makes it out to be. So, is Link’s heroic adventure in Termina really all for naught?…

Two weeks ago, Game Theory, a popular YouTube channel, discussed the possibility of Link being dead in Majora’s Mask. I mean, that’s a pretty long fall in the beginning of the game right? And they had a good point, although I didn’t quite buy it.

This week, however, they talked about Link’s quest being pointless to begin with. The moon caused quite a big explosion for something that moved so slow. And what would the other dangers be? It’s still a pretty big celestial object hanging in the sky. Thankfully, they’ve got you covered.

You can see the video after the jump!

It seems as though most people have accepted the idea that Majora’s Mask takes place in an alternate dimension version of Hyrule which is why a lot of the characters from Ocarina of Time appear in the game. While it’s no secret I’m not particularly keen on Majora’s Mask (and, to clarify this time, I’m not saying it’s a bad game, I just think most other Zelda games are better) there are a lot of theories revolving around it, what…

When word came nearly a year ago that Nintendo had released an official timeline in the then Japanese-only Hyrule Historia, many of us were filled with a combo of both excitement and dread. How could Nintendo fit all of the games into a coherent timeline with only one confirmed split (“Adult” and “Child”)? When we finally saw the official timeline it all made sense: there was a third split. And while this helped make sense out of the connecting games…
