Although Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker may seem irrelevant to The Legend of Zelda, Toad may owe it to Link for being the star of his first ever spin-off. In a recent interview with Treasure Tracker director Shinya Hiratake, he had revealed that the game originally had nothing to do with Toad, when in fact, it was actually a game designed to be part of the Legend of Zelda franchise.
