Let me start by saying that this is not about the relationship between Link and Zelda. Today’s topic for debate is Link’s relationship with everyone he meets. The series has introduced us to hundreds of memorable characters, but we don’t really know anything about them. How can a series that tells so little about its characters provide such an incredible story? Click the jump to join the daily debate!

Welcome to yet another one of our Weekly Features: ZI Votes! Every Thursday we’ll be providing you all with a poll question ranging across all sorts of Zelda topics, somewhat akin to the Zelda Versus polls. This week, despite the fact that a new character announcement is likely imminent, we’ve still gotta ask: who are you most excited to play as in Hyrule Warriors? Head inside and make your voice heard!

There’s been a lot of news for Hyrule Warriors this week, especially with the reveal of three new playable characters. Along with the news of Sheik, Darunia, and Ruto’s representing Ocarina of Time, we’ve gotten plenty of new details on some of the old characters too, be that from screenshots, videos, and streams. With all this discussion of characters, one topic has popped into my head lately: thus far, we have ten playable characters revealed…of whom, only Lana is original.

While I’m all for more and more references to the games we love, I can’t help but wonder if Koei Tecmo should flex their creative muscles more and give us even more original characters for this game. You can read more of my thoughts and join the Daily Debate for yourself after the jump!

For those holding out for all the sages from Ocarina of Time to be playable in Hyrule Warriors, it looks like your prayers are being answered, at least partially. Ruto and Darunia have been confirmed alongside Sheik to be playable characters in Hyrule Warriors. NabooruRauru, and Saria still have not been confirmed.

The news comes from Famitsu’s website where a small snippet of the magazine can be seen detailing Sheik. New weapons for Impa and Lana were also detailed in the magazine, and collectible Gold Skulltulas were also mentioned to be appearing in Hyrule Warriors. This is currently all we know about the scan from Famitsu. We’ll keep you updated with more news as it becomes available.

It looks like we won’t have to wait long for more news about Hyrule Warriors, as we’re pretty much set to see a new character revealed in Famitsu this week. This is according to the official Zelda Musou twitter account. It states there is a 98% chance we’ll see a new character this week, which ultimately leads us to think that Fi will be included. Then again, we could be off base, and there is always the possibility we see more than one new character. Head inside.

In 1986, The Legend of Zelda introduced some of the most recognizable video game superstars of all time, and since then, each new Zelda game has added to the series’s dramatis personae, introducing new characters and re-imagining familiar ones. A Link Between Worlds, the most recent continuation of the Zelda legend, is no different. It brings together a diverse cast of fun and likable characters, doing its best to make each one – no matter how minor – stand out. To celebrate…

Majora’s Mask is definitely my favorite Zelda, though for different reasons than most. While I love the side-quests and the depressing themes present, what sells the game for me is the dramatic and serious elements in the game. The Moon is going to crash and kill everyone in Termina if you, the hero, do not intervene and save them. Nothing in Termina will remain. All those characters, with their intricate routines and side-quests… gone. Tragic, isn’t it? Except for the…

With A Link Between Worlds releasing less than two weeks from now, anticipation for the first original Zelda game for the 3DS couldn’t be higher. Until the glorious day of its release, however, fans hankering for further details will soon have a torrent of media opinions to sift through online. While we’ve all been squirming in our pants waiting for a chance to play A Link Between Worlds, gaming commentators, like Siliconera writer Robert Ward, have been hard at work scrutinizing…

With tons of new information for A Link Between Worlds being released through both today’s Nintendo Direct and some official artwork, we have now been able to finally compile a decent understanding of the structure of this upcoming 3DS title, specifically, the abundance of characters both new and old. Come November 22nd, we’re all going to be treated to some curious new characters, as well as some pleasantly surprising old faces! So which characters will be making their glorious 3D…

One of the main things I’ve always wanted to see changed about the Zelda series is the level of detail the worlds in its games have. More so than some other adventure games I’ve played, Zelda has a tendency to have areas that feel… like they’re from a video game. I realize there are multiple confusing elements to that statement. The bottom line is that there’s usually two extreme kinds of video game: Arcade, and simulation. Arcade-style games don’t feel…
