YouTube member and replica maker Scott Fisher recently uploaded a video showing off his electronic replica of Zelda’s bow of light from Twilight Princess and Smash Brothers. The main body of the bow is made from 3D printed plastic painted gold. With a switch on the handle the color of the light can be switched to yellow, red, purple, green, and blue. He then gives us a look at the inside to see the electronics that make it light up….

One of the recurring items in the Zelda series is the Slingshot: a handheld device Link often obtains early in the games it is in. Unfortunately for every game it appears in, it’s typically obtained before the Bow; the Bow greatly outshines the Slingshot with improved range, damage and projectiles it could carry. Is there a place for the Slingshot alongside the bow, or is it an outdated piece of equipment that should be retired in favor of the bow? Read more…

Any Zelda game is typically based on two great mechanics, puzzle solving and combat. Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has already stated in a recent interview with Kotaku that puzzle solving in Zelda Wii U will drastically differ from the typical block sliding and torch lighting exercises. On the other hand, GameExplain has released a Zelda Wii U Trailer Analysis seen here and the most important piece of information related to combat is the fact that Link’s sword is holstered on…

With A Link Between Worlds still buzzing in everyone’s minds, this week’s comic comes from Brawl in the Family and features Ravio’s Shop! In the game we only see Link buying or renting items from Ravio, but who’s to say that other creatures don’t also use Ravio’s service? This time a moblin plays the role of the customer, and you might be able to guess how he reacts to the steep prices. Hit the jump to read the comic!

Are new items better, or returning items? This question has gone through the head of many-a Zelda fan, and rarely has a clear answer been found. To find a clear answer, there are two assumptions that we have to make: firstly, that the term items refers only to items that are used to progress through a certain dungeon and gain access to other areas in the overworld; and secondly, that returning items can be split into two subcategories: staples and…

Amongst all the information about the upcoming Zelda 3DS, one bit of news that came out was a screenshot that indicated that this A Link to the Past sequel will actually have the same number of item slots as its predecessor. The subject of a Zelda’s game’s item repertoire is always a significant one, as Zelda games are always extremely item-driven. Items are Link’s powers, his objectives, and indeed serve as ways of unlocking new areas and secrets; virtually everything…

The Tower of the Gods is one of the few dungeons in The Wind Waker that I’m just a little bit at a loss for words on. I like it… but it’s a bit challenging to justify why (that will make more sense later in the review). So it might take me some time to explain. Bear with me! This dungeon has a concept that few dungeons — mainly just the Great Palace from Adventure of Link — had prior…

Ah, time to review the Goron Mines. I might recall incorrectly since I wasn’t really keeping track of Zelda news at the time, but I remember that during the pre-release buzz for Twilight Princess, Nintendo seemed to show this dungeon more than the others. Certainly, particular chambers of this dungeon, like the open room with the Bulblin Archers, and the dungeon boss were familiar sights for many before the game released. So in a way, that put more pressure on…

Well, I asked you guys which game you wanted me to review the dungeons from next, and while it seemed like it was pretty close between Majora’s Mask and Twilight Princess, I figured I’d at least start Majora’s Mask for October and when I’m done move on to Twilight Princess. So first up is, as always, the first dungeon of the game: Woodfall Temple. Some of the Zelda games with the best opening dungeons are the ones where the player…

Skyward Sword introduced a semi-advanced upgrade system to make leveling Link more interesting. What it brought to the table was something fresh and new while unrefined all the awhile. The acquisition of said treasures was actually enjoyable, but the amount and variety of treasures necessary to successfully refine equipment was unbalanced. When it comes to The Legend of Zelda, gamers have high standards for every new title. Nintendo was bold to experiment with a deeper upgrade system, however they nearly…
