As much as it may seem like Ganondorf has a monopoly on the business of getting brutally stabbed at the end of Zelda games, from time to time another foe will have the honor of becoming Link’s temporary sheath/final cutscene trigger. ZD Top- Ganon Battles

In all of the Zelda series, one villain rules them all: Ganon. This petrifying and pig-like foe has made an appearance in some form or another in nine main-series Zelda games, and there are few things more satisfying than poking him full of holes after a long and intense quest. In this week’s ZD Top, we had our writers recount their favorite showdowns with Ganon in his various forms.

Hyrule Warriors took a different approach in their boss battles, notably the ability to move across the entire map in the midst of fighting. The bosses were also incredibly strong, hammering through the large field while destroying structures around them. With the large, open world of Zelda for Wii U, Eiji Aonuma states that he would like to incorporate this idea into the new Zelda. Hit the jump to hear more!

Boss battles have always been a major part of gameplay in the Zelda series; every boss has a completely different feel when you are battling, and some bosses are harder than others. The items used and the strategy behind each boss is unique.
