Earlier in the year, Nintendo announced a partnership with LEGO and the development of building sets based on the world of Super Mario. Fans of LEGO were certainly excited to have sets based on one of their favorite video games, but it should be noted that Nintendo fans have dreamt of Zelda-inspired LEGO sets long before these Mario ones were announced. There have been a few fan proposals for Zelda-themed sets in the past, one notable being the stables from Breath of the Wild. Now fans have their hopes set on Hyrule Castle as the next proposed set for Nintendo’s LEGO line up.

“The Legend of Zelda BotW: Hyrule Castle” is the latest Zelda-themed project proposed on the LEGO Ideas website and features Hyrule Castle, Link, Calamity Ganon, and a slew of Guardians. Viewers are able to vote on ideas like these in order for them to receive consideration to be made into an official set. According the LEGO Ideas website, the proposal has a total of 2331 supporters at the time of writing, and for the set to be in consideration, the project needs 10,000 total supporters in the next six months.

Here is a description of the Hyrule Castle LEGO set from the project’s creator, BrickGallery:

“Since Lego started producing Nintendo sets, I think the chance of getting a Lego Legend of Zelda set are way higher. I walked through the map several times and took alot of screenshots in order to capture the look of Hyrule castle as closely to the game as possible. The project represents the Throne Room of Hyrule Castle. It includes several Guardians, Calamity Ganon, a Korok and Link. The castle is modular for maximum playability. Link comes with his sword, Hylian Shield and his Paraglider.

Please keep in mind that this is just a prototype. With your suggestions and support I will update this project in the future.”

So what are the chances of this set getting the go-ahead if it reaches enough supporters? Well, with the Super Mario LEGO sets on their way, I would imagine that Nintendo and LEGO have more ideas up their sleeves that we just don’t know about yet. Jonathan Bennink, Design Manager at the LEGO Creative Play Lab and Digital Design Lead for LEGO Super Mario made mention of how he hoped that Nintendo and LEGO would have a long-term partnership going forward:

“We haven’t worked for four years to release just one wave of products. We hope to have a long and fruitful relationship with Nintendo and their IPs, and we are really looking forward to working with them on a longer-term.”

Personally my husband loves LEGO sets, and I love having some really cool-looking sets displayed in our home. It would awesome to be able to purchase any Zelda-themed LEGO set in the future, especially Hyrule Castle from Breath of the Wild. Would you enjoy a LEGO set of Hyrule Castle from Breath of the Wild? What other Zelda themed LEGO sets would you like to see? Sound off in the comments below!
