Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Latest Tournament Celebrates the 35th Anniversary of Zelda and More!
Posted on May 27 2021 by Samantha Reynolds
Since August 2019, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been hosting online tournaments bimonthly. Each tournament, or Event Tourney, has a specific theme with set characters, stages, and items. Earlier this month, players competed in the event titled “Walloping Weapons”– a tourney focusing on battering items. The second tournament for this month has been announced, and it is titled “Three Cheers for 35 Years!”
As the name alludes, this tournament is all about honoring the epic characters who are celebrating their 35th anniversary. There are sixteen playable characters for this event, including our favorite Zelda heroes (plus Ganondorf). Our Zelda friends are accompanied by characters from the Metroid, Kid Icarus, Castlevania, and Dragon Quest series, and they will be fighting it out on stages modeled after these games. The allowed items are also in respect to the participating series.
Are you interested in trying your hand at this commemorative tournament? Join in by entering via the Online Tourney mode option and get smashing. This event takes place May 28, 2021, and runs to May 31, 2021. Like previous tournaments, each round is two and a half minutes and has the FS meter enabled. The starting and ending time is at 6 a.m. UTC, and the full details on the stages and items can be found here.
