In partnership with Universal Studios theme parks, the first Super Nintendo World amusement park opened in Osaka’s Universal Studios Japan in 2021. Early in 2022, Universal confirmed that they would be bringing this new attraction to North America in 2023. We now have a specific release date, as Nintendo has announced that Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood will open on February 17th, 2023. Wahoo!

Sure to be a fun time for the whole family, this version of Super Nintendo World will open with one ride; Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. From their experience at the Osaka location, The Verge described the ride as “an AR action game set on a go-kart track, where you’re drifting through the virtual course and firing virtual shells at virtual opponents — as the kart moves through the track in real life.” It is unknown whether Yoshi’s Adventure will eventually make the trip over to North America. The park will also include Bowser’s Castle and Toadstool Cafe. Like the Osaka park, patrons will be able to track scores and challenges throughout the park on their unique Power-Up bands. Another Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Orlando is still slated to open in 2025.
What do you think? Are you excited for this new amusement park? What other kinds of rides and attractions should be included? Let us know in the comments below!
