If you’re a fan of Stranger Things on Netflix, you should already know Gaten Matarazzo, who plays the character Dustin Henderson. But did you know that when Matarazzo is taking a break from fighting Vecna or the Demogorgon, he is busy playing the Nintendo Switch and is an avid fan of the Zelda series?

Matarazzo recently gave an interview to Variety and highlighted the games he is playing this holiday season. While he noted that he would be gifting Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to friends this year, he made a point to emphasize his passion for the Legend of Zelda series:

“I’m a huge ‘Legend of Zelda’ fan and I’ve always wanted to see a very visually and musically driven animated film. It might be challenging when most of the characters never speak, but to explore a vocally silent world where a story can be told visually and through score would be really cool.”

Matarazzo describes his vision of an animated movie for the franchise showcasing a “vocally silent” world driven by an enrapturing musical score. This indeed would appeal to the musical heart and soul of the Zelda series, but how would it appeal to many of its fans?

What are your thoughts on this type of direction for an animated Zelda movie? Could a relatively silent movie led by a creative musical score carry the same weight as the video game series we have all come to love? Or would this art direction moreso lend itself towards a short clip/film rather than a full-fledged film like the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie? Leave your thoughts below!
