The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom released at the stroke of midnight this morning, and Zelda fans around the world have already devoted several hours to this new adventure. Some on Zelda Dungeon’s staff haven’t stopped playing since picking the game up, in fact. But while the typical gamer tends to savor every last moment in a new game, speedrunners are looking for ways to reach the end in the quickest way possible.

Mere hours after the game’s worldwide launch on May 12th, speedrunner gymnast86 published a video of himself finishing Tears of the Kingdom in just one hour, 34 minutes, and 33 seconds. The run falls under the “Any% (No Amiibo)” category, meaning that the runner was authorized to use any in-game method to reach the game’s end credits, including glitches and unintended skips; the use of amiibo was prohibited, however.

You can watch the full run right here. It goes without saying that the video contains major spoilers for Tears of the Kingdom, so watch at your own risk.

This Tears of the Kingdom speedrun has not yet been verified by major leaderboards like speedrun.com or ZeldaSpeedRuns. Gymnast86 currently holds world-record times in The Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time 3D, and Skyward Sword HD.

This 94-minute time will no doubt be shaved down considerably as more speedrunners find every way they can to break Tears of the Kingdom. The current Any% world record for Breath of the Wild, which stands at just 23 minutes and 53 seconds, is a testament to just how quickly a huge Zelda adventure can be completed beginning to end.
