Many a musician have covered “Zelda’s Lullaby” in the almost 30 years since its first appearance in A Link to the Past. Composer Trevor Alan Gomes found himself likewise inspired to release his own take on the classic tune earlier this month when he streamed an improvised jazz cover of “Zelda’s Lullaby” live on his Twitch channel. The session was uploaded to YouTube where all can enjoy the smooth, freeform rendition that mixes Gomes’ personal flare with the song’s trademark tranquility.

Gomes, also known as 88bitmusic, performs live on Twitch nearly every weekday. In these sessions he plays various songs as well as takes requests from viewers and those who donate to the channel. His next stream will be today at 12pm EST.

Highlights from his streams appear on Gomes’ YouTube channel along with original compositions and video game music arrangements. If you enjoyed this video, Gomes has also done jazz improvisations of “Kakariko Village”, the “Song of Storms”, and “Dragon Roost Island”. Some of his video game arrangements include a Zelda Christmas Medley, as well as music from Pokemon and Chrono Trigger.

What do you think of this smooth jazz cover of “Zelda’s Lullaby”? Are there are other Zelda songs you’d like to hear covered in this style? Share your thoughts in the comments!
