Popular a capella vocalist Smooth McGroove officially made his return to the YouTube scene a couple months ago with the announcement of a whole new batch of video game covers. Not only will we get new work from Mr. McGroove, but he will also be doing fresh takes on some of his earlier work. To begin with, he’s diving into a Zelda classic.
The first arrangement he’s decided to do reworks the a capella cover that started it all for him, and that is the iconic score from Ocarina of Time “Zelda’s Lullaby”. It’s hard to believe that it was over five years ago that Smooth McGroove began releasing a cappela game covers. Titled “Zelda’s Lullaby Acapella *V2*”, this cover implements all of what makes Smooth’s more recent a capella covers so worthwhile. With a refreshed and lively Smooth McGroove back in the driver’s seat, only time will tell how amazing his newest batch of projects will be.
About a month after that cover was released, Smooth also went back and performed a new version of his a capella cover of the Title Theme for Ocarina of Time.
It’s great to hear these classic tunes performed so gracefully just shy of Ocarina of Time‘s 20th birthday.
What do you think of the new versions of Smooth McGroove’s covers? Are there any Zelda a capella covers that you still want him to tackle? Let us know in the comments below!
