The latest pre-order numbers are in for the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and it is yet another disappointing week. The next entry in the Zelda series picked up 22,507 pre-orders during the week ending October 15th, reaching a lifetime total of 413,881 pre-orders. Skyward Sword was sitting at the #8 spot, but dropped to #9 after being surpassed by the PS3 version of Battlefield 3.

Once again, Skyward Sword was one of the lowest titles in gathering pre-orders on the list with all 8-games above it picking up numbers. Only one game in the previous weeks Top 20 has released, and that is Forza Motorsport 4. However, even with a new title on the charts, Skyward Sword remains the only Nintendo title on the listing. With Batman: Arkham City set to release in the next week, Skyward Sword will surely jump two spots on the listing, but more importantly, I’d like to see the numbers improve.

We’ve already seen the first commercials in Japan, so I imagine that advertising isn’t too far off for the rest of the world. My local GameStop just recently put up a large coming soon poster banner in their store for Skyward Sword, so I’m sure that will give some extra promotion. With five weeks left until launch, I’m still sticking by my estimation that Skyward Sword will crack the 600,000 mark and perhaps even much higher than that. I truly think the last two weeks before the game launches, we’ll see numbers jump significantly higher as the advertising comes in. Only time will tell.

Skyward Sword is set for release on November 18th in Europe, November 20th in the US, November 23rd in Japan, and November 24th in Australia.
