The release of Skyward Sword HD is not too far off, and fans are finally getting a glimpse of the bonus goodies they’ll be able to add to their experience with the game. Yesterday, Nintendo unveiled a new amiibo depicting Zelda and her loftwing, and today a collection of Skyward Sword HD collectible merchandise became available on the Nintendo Tokyo storefront. The coolest one yet, however, might be the steelbook case that is starting to pop up at select retailers.

While this product has not been officially announced by Nintendo, French website Nintend’Alerts first posted an image of the steelbook alongside the claim that it was a pre-order bonus at French retail outlet Micromania. The retailer confirmed this and has since confirmed that existing pre-orders for Skyward Sword HD would have it applied to those customers as well. The steelbook does not appear on Micromania’s listing for the game.

This steelbook is also featured on the websites of German retailers Media Markt and Saturn, with both outlets labeling the product as an “online only” item. Dutch retailer Game Mania also offers the steelbook as a pre-order bonus.

As of now, this awesome-looking case has only appeared at European outlets, but it has yet to be formally announced. It would be very unusual for a bonus item like this to remain region-exclusive; and Nintendo would surely be interested in extending this collector’s item to eager fans everywhere, either as a pre-order bonus or incentive to purchase an upgraded edition of Skyward Sword HD.
