With the enormous success of Nintendo’s NFC toy-to-life figures, amiibo, it seems that these highly-coveted statuettes of video game characters are being integrated into more and more Wii U and 3DS games. However, given their undeniable popularity, Tri Force Heroes developer, Hiromasa Shikata, has denied the support of amiibo in the game. You can read his statement below:

“I think it’s really something as simple as this game isn’t a natural fit for it,” Shikata explained. “I think [that’s] because we’re focused on giving players the ability to choose different outfits to impact their experience within the game. We didn’t think amiibo added anything other than what games with it are already doing. There’s no reason to shoehorn it in.”

I can definitely see Shikata’s point. The support of amiibo wouldn’t be adding anything to the game that is already included, and something put in this late in development could seem rushed or unnecessary. Are you disappointed that amiibo won’t be used in Tri Force Heroes, or are you glad that they won’t be joining the fray? Feel free to share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
