When asked before, Shigeru Miyamoto has stated that he is very interested in A Link To The Past on the Nintendo 3DS or at least creating a game in the same style as ALTTP. His statement stirred quite a few rumors on whether or not ALTTP would receive a full blown 3D remake like one of its successors, Ocarina of Time, or if something completely different was in the works.

Naturally when Miyamoto spoke with Edge Magazine yesterday, they asked him about A Link To The Past being on the 3DS to find out what we could really expect in the future for Zelda. For the full quote on what he had to say on about the subject, be sure to make the jump.

I think the answer would be the same if we’re talking about just porting,” he said, “but I think I’d be even more interested in creating something new maybe based on, or starting from, A Link To The Past. I think it’s important to bring some really new software.

After reading the quote from Miyamoto, I’m now more excited than ever to know what plans Miyamoto and the rest of Nintendo are keeping from the world for Zelda, the 3DS, and even the Wii U. I would be happy whether we received a simple 3D remake of ALTTP or a brand new game based off of it. Thinking about a direct sequel to the game would be amazing as well. What I would love more than anything though would be a completely revamped ALTTP based in the same world, maybe have a few new places added on and the world itself be expanded, but have the “behind the back” camera angle and graphics of OoT 3D. What are your thoughts on Zelda for the 3DS? What secrets do you think Miyamoto is hiding from us? Let us know in the comments below.
