Sheik-Centric Fan Zine “Harp in Shadows” Now Available for Pre-Order Until December 15th
Posted on November 02 2023 by Kristen G. Rosario

Zelda fans from all over the world have taken a liking to Sheik since her original debut in the Nintendo 64 classic Ocarina of Time. Sheik’s popularity has been so big that at one point years ago, Metroid Prime developer Retro Studios were in early development of a game based on the character. While there are very low chances that that title will ever see the light of day, it’s not stopping a group of like-minded Sheik fans in giving Princess Zelda’s alter-ego her own spotlight.
In a recent tweet, the group behind the upcoming release of the Sheik-centric digital fan zine Harp in Shadows revealed that the zine is now available for pre-order until December 15th. This collaborative effort will see over 50 creative minds come together to celebrate everyone’s favorite ninja from the Zelda series. The tweet also came with a video showcasing some of the talent attached to this project.

According to the Harp in Shadows‘ official website, the group’s goal with this fan zine is to create a project focused on what some see as the less popular interpretations of Sheik’s persona:
We wanted to pay homage to the original intentions for Sheik by creating a zine focused on what are now seen as less popular interpretations of their persona, which include but are not limited to: transmasc; cisgender male; nonbinary; genderfluid; etc.
Harp in Shadows currently has three bundles available for purchase, with all proceeds going towards the international advocacy organization Global Action for Trans Equality (GATE). This includes the Digital Zine Bundle, which is just the digital version of the fan zine ($15 USD) and a Merch Bundle that only comes with collectable art & music from the contributing artists ($10 USD). The final one is the Full Bundle which includes everything from the previous bundles mentioned ($20 USD).
