It may seem too early to be speculating about just what Zelda Wii U will be like as Nintendo didn’t even show us a piece of concept art let alone a trailer at this past E3, indicating that it is at least several years off. Not so, according to a new post at Wii U Daily. According to their Nintendo source, the game will be out in 2014. And their “very trusted source” has a lot to say about some of the finer details.

Make the jump to hear all about them!

First of all, let’s preface all of this by saying that even though Wii U Daily is confident in this information and asserts that this same source has recently accurately “leaked” many key features of the Wii U prior to their reveal, we strongly urge you to take all of this with a grain of salt. That being said…

Wii U Daily’s source insists that–contrary to what Eiji Aonuma has said before–the new Zelda game will utilize an HD and much more highly detailed version of the Skyward Sword art style. As much as I personally would love this to be the case, this is what set my BS alarm off. Mr. Aonuma made it clear they would not be using this same art style again.

Some of the other “details” are givens: the new Wii U GamePad will be utilized and Zelda will make the most of its features. This doesn’t take a rocket scientist to determine as when Nintendo builds a new console they always have Zelda in mind for it and often build the controller around how they feel will most innovate Zelda. To that end, the source insists that not only will this be the most innovative Zelda of all time, but that “It’ll have some revolutionizing gameplay. It has stuff that would never be possible on any other console, and it’s not just one cool feature, it’s one cool feature after another. Each dungeon will offer a different gameplay experience with the tablet controller. It’ll be the most innovative game ever, they got stuff that will be copied by others for years.”

Wii U Daily’s source also says that the game has the largest team ever assembled at Nintendo working on it and that it will be the most expensive effort put forth by Nintendo by leaps and bounds. “It’s a huge investment for them [Nintendo] in money and manpower, this is Rockstar/GTA territory”.

Curiously, the source doesn’t seem to know some of the much more intriguing and less “guessable” details: what the story is, and whether voice acting will be utilized more expansively. He does, however, assert to know about one of the first dungeons: a massive forest.

“The first test dungeon they made was a giant forest running on early and buggy Wii U hardware — the dungeon was bigger than the Hyrule field in Ocarina, and the whole thing is one dungeon. You use the gamepad to navigate, avoid traps, follow clues etc. It’s dark, lush, with a ton of trees, foliage, some which you have to cut your way through. Its scope and details are unlike anything you’ve seen in a Zelda game.”

Again, please remember that these are merely unconfirmed rumors and should not be taken as anything else. And the mere fact that one of the major details contradicts Eiji Aonuma should point to the notion that these are likely unfounded.
