RUMOR: The Wind Waker HD/Wii U bundle

Wii UIt’s fast approaching the first anniversary of the Wii U’s release and it seems as though there haven’t really been that many bundles to entice you with an awesome game upon purchase. The only bundle I’ve seen is the ZombieU one but that didn’t exactly make we want to rush out and buy one. There are probably a few others which I haven’t seen but I doubt any of them would be great. However, a rumor has recently surfaced of a new bundle, packed with a much anticipated game.

That’s right, the HD remake of The Wind Waker, which is due for release in October, might be being bundled with the WiiU. In a recent Twitter post, several upcoming and unannounced items were mentioned, including a new Pokemon info and drops in PS3 pricing, but also a mention of the Wii U bundle. The information supposedly comes from an inventory system at a major US retailer. Nothing official has been released by Nintendo regarding this yet so, even when the game is released, there’s no guarantee it will also come bundled with the Wii U.

wind wakerThere are 2 small issues I have with this. First of all, as great as The Wind Waker is, I have the GameCube version. I don’t have a Wii U yet but I would be much more eager to get one if it came bundled with an awesome new game rather than a a remake, even if it is a great game like The Wind Waker with some extra content. It’ll probably be a few more years before the new Zelda game is released so I’d probably already have one if that gets bundled with it. The other thing is that this a purely for the USA so, if that’s just a rumor, it’s anyone’s guess if it will be bundled anywhere else. Being in the UK, I just have to keep my fingers crossed it makes the trip across the pond.

If you don’t have a Wii U yet and this rumor turns out to be true, will you be rushing out to buy one? Or would you rather stick with the classic GameCube version? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
