E3 is Ready for Liftoff

Nintendo’s E3 showing is lifting off in under an hour with the Pre-E3 Nintendo Direct, and while we won’t be hearing anything about software at this event, we have a source that reportedly has Nintendo’s Wii U lineup for E3!

Now, I’m going to go ahead and say this: these rumors are almost definitely fake, but we’re going to take a look at them anyways because we cannot contain our excitement for E3.

The list includes titles from both Nintendo and third party developers; they even have an idea of what Retro may be working on. Many of the ideas contained are either definitely going to be seen, or at least possible. Other, on the other hand, are very unlikely in my opinion, no matter how exciting they might be.

Wanna take a look at the list? Here we go then!

  • New Super Mario World – Nintendo
  • Pikmin 3 – Nintendo
  • Anguish Souls – Nintendo
  • The Legend of Zelda: HD Tripack (Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Four Swords Adventures) – Greezo
  • Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 – Konami
  • Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection (Twin Snakes, Sons of Liberty, Guns of the Patriots) – Konami
  • Resident Evil 6 – Capcom
  • Tekken 7 – Namco Bandai
  • Kingdom Hearts: Remembrance Collection (Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts 2, Birth by Sleep) – Square Enix
  • Assassin’s Creed 3 – Ubisoft
  • Final Fantasy Racing – Square Enix
  • Dead Space 3 – EA
  • Mirror’s Edge 2 – EA
  • Star Wave Race: Evolution – Retro Studios
  • Nintendogs + cats 2 – Nintendo
  • PES 2013 – Konami
  • TOMB RAIDER – Crystal Dinamics
  • Rayman Legends – Ubisoft

I have highlighted the titles that I see as almost definite appearances at E3 (the Mario game may have a different name though). The rest on the list range from possible to “oh my gosh are you joking”.

First off, if Nintendo is wasting any precious development time on a Nintendogs title for Wii U, I will have words for them. They need to be doing something themselves to pull in hardcore gamers; cute kittens and puppy dogs are not going to cut it.

The Zelda HD pack seems like a good idea; I’d certainly like one. However, I don’t see the point of releasing Four Swords Adventures and Wind Waker in HD. In my opinion, their art styles don’t really have anything to gain from HD. If the pack had Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess, and maybe Skyward Sword, or any combination of those, it would be golden.

Now on to Retro’s supposed entry into the Wave Race franchise. I don’t understand the premise of a Space Wave Race: there’s no water in space. Honestly, I don’t find that name very appealing at all. If they want to make a “Space Race” game in the same vein as Wave Race, that would be tons better; if Retro is going to be working on a racing game though, why not go all the way and let them tackle F-Zero though Nintendo?

Most of the other non-bolded games on the list, sans Anguish Souls (not sure what that could be; a hardcore game from Nintendo?) and Final Fantasy Racing (what the…?), seem plausible.

So, what do you like about this list? Do you want any of these games shown at E3?
