Research Puts Gamers into 8 Types – However it Completely Ignores Nintendo Platforms

You know what’s frustrating as a fan that respects Nintendo? When money is poured into market researching the different types of gamers, and the 96 million install base of the Wii along with the DS’s 152 million install base get ignored as being relevant. So it bases things upon the UK it seems, yet it mentions the worldwide sales figures for all gaming platforms that don’t involve Nintendo. Does that mean that a mysterious 9th category exists? You know, the “Nintendo gamer”. What happens if I play Nintendo games but also like Madden, Assassin’s Creed, and Skyrim? I also play iPhone games. While the chart I think does put things rather nicely, it’s hard to really take it completely serious when it ignores the biggest market this generation in home console and handheld gaming.

The company known as Playnomics did all the research for these pretty graphs, and I do think there is definitely some validity in the research. While it doesn’t include anything related to Nintendo, which happens to be the best selling video game company software and hardware wise in the entire world the last 10 years, it’s hard to really tell if Nintendo’s inclusion would truly change the end results. What do you guys think?
