Halloween might be over, but the Fall Season is in full swing. And what better way to celebrate than with a pumpkin-based Breath of the Wild recipe? Chef Peter of Youtube’s Pwnapplez has the perfect recipe for making a real-life Tough Meat Stuffed Pumpkin. The end result is gorgeous, and the meat is partly cooked inside the pumpkin! Also, all the proceeds from Peter’s videos go to charity, in this case Puerto Rico hurricane relief, so definitely check it out.
I’m not a very adventurous cook — the majority of what I cook is pasta-based — so seeing a more involved recipe like this really excites me. I’m always so impressed by the dishes people create based on food from video games; it takes skill to formulate them, and this one also looks stunning.
Here’s the recipe:
- 1 pumpkin
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 yellow, green, and orange pepper diced
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp sofrito or tomato paste
- 3 large garlic cloves minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup cooking white wine
- 1/4 cup of pimiento stuffed green olives
- 1 tbsp capers
- 1 tbsp sherry vinegar
- 1/2 yellow large onion
This video is part of Peter’s “Cucco’s Kitchen” series in which he cooks video game-related dishes. He’s got quite a few Zelda inspired ones, including a Monster Cake recipe (which I might try out).
Anyone plan on trying this pumpkin recipe? Are there any other Breath of the Wild dishes you’d like to see Peter recreate? Share your thoughts in the comments!
