Potentially the Real Zelda Timeline?

The follks at Kotaku have made their attempt on creating an accurate timeline based on some translations from this site taking the information straight from the new Hyrule Historia book. Their interpretation is based on the newly translated information gathered on that website but they still had to fill in some gaps. According to this the timeline splits in three ways after Ocarina of Time based on the outcome. A Link to the Past from Link failing to defeat Ganondorf, Majora’s Mask from his childhood time, and Wind Waker from the adult time. Jump inside to see it for yourself.

I imagine there are a few people who might have some issue with the timeline as it appears here. Debates over the structure and placement of a few certain games have filled up many a theory section of several years now. Honestly I think three tinelines coming from Ocarina of Time makes sense. A Link to the Past does not reconcile well with Wind Waker or Twilight Princess. However basing it on the possibility of Link or the player failing at their job of keeping Hyrule safe seems to be an odd assumption to make. Perhaps if the Sages were successful in sealing Ganondorf without Link’s help maybe. The only other thing that caught my attention was the placement of Four Swords Adventures. I would like a little more of an explanation as to why it would come after Twilight Princess.

So what do you think? Think this is the real thing? Spot any inconsistencies? Let us know in the comments below.
