Hello again, Zelda Informer fans! I hope you’re all ready for yet another entry in our weekly Photoshop Contest. This weekend, those in America will be celebrating the Fourth of July, a national excuse to launch explosives into the air and eat too many hamburgers. So in honor of American Independence Day, we will be using our ‘shopping skills to bring an American flavor to The Legend of Zelda. Before the fun can begin though, we’ll of course need to look back at the winners of last week’s contest: Free Week #2.

Last Week’s Contest

The Free Week format returned last week, giving artists the opportunity to exercise their creativity and imaginations. Rather than a theme, I provided just three images that contestants could ‘shop in any way they wanted. Needless to say, the submissions we received were extremely inventive and undoubtedly hilarious.

Unfortunately there was no Challenge Mode winner last week, but that’s not to say we didn’t receive other amazing submissions. I recommend you head back to last week’s contest page to see the entries that barely missed the cut.

This Week’s Contest: Zelda Does America

On July 4th, 1776, a group of impassioned old guys signed a very large piece of paper, thus forming what we all commonly know as the United States of America. In addition to the liberty, freedom, and equal rights this document professed, we of this country now regard it as a reason to indulge in food, drink, fireworks, and monster trucks. It truly is the land of the free.

Anyway, the task this week is to inject the American lifestyle (whatever you believe that to be) into the world of Zelda. Maybe you want to see Zelda on the steps of the white house, maybe you want to see a massive Tingle fireworks show, or maybe you want to see Link in a red, white, and blue tunic riding on the wings of an eagle. Honestly, as long as it represents America to you, you’re free to do any Photoshop you’d like. You’re welcome to use images from the gallery below or anything else floating around on the internet.

General Rules:

  • Submit your entries in the comments section below.
  • To save images from the gallery, right click the image in the gallery (without opening the image in lightbox) and select open image in new tab. Go up to the address bar and delete __small from the URL. Hit enter, right click, and save!
  • Photoshop is not required to enter the contest. Any image manipulation software can be used to create your entry.
  • Please refrain from using offensive material (racial, sexual, overuse of offensive language, etc.) We want to make the contest fun and accessible for fans of all ages.
  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion at Zelda Informer. In fact, we encourage discussion based on those opinions. However, please do not insult other fans’ work. What may be funny to one person may not hold true for another…and that’s OK.
  • Have fun and be creative!

Deadline: Submit entries no later than next Wednesday at midnight: 11:59 p.m. PST on July 8. Entries submitted after this Deadline will not be considered.

Challenge Mode

For those that who want to test their skills with something more challenging, we have a few Challenge Rules for you to follow:

1. Your entry must include Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles.

2. Your entry must include a baseball bat.

If you think you’re up to the challenge, include the phrase Challenge Accepted with your submission. Remember, Challenge Mode submissions follow the same rules and guidelines of the base Photoshop Contest in addition to the Challenge Rules.

Good luck!
