Pach Attack: Nintendo Makes Quality Games, Isn’t Going Anywhere

The title isn’t “exactly” what this weeks Pach Attack is about, but I figured I would start with the positive twist for Nintendo because despite him praising Nintendo in an interview a week or so ago… people are convinced Pachter is just a Nintendo hater. He’s not. He think their software is phenomenal. In talking about the console wars and game development, he puts Nintendo into the perfectionist column. Willing to spend an extra couple years on a game if they think it will make it perfect. This is, of course, setting aside the New Super Mario Bros. series, but I digress. We know in general Nintendo will delay games and do what they have to in order to provide what they feel is a superior product.
The heart of this episode is really about Japanese development times, which vary for many different reasons, as well as about what if any of the console makers are going to dip out first. Despite all his doom and gloom for the Wii U, he in no way sees Nintendo going anywhere anytime soon. Nor the other companies as well. Simply put: He may not think the Wii U is going to be the next Wii (in terms of sales), but he doesn’t think Nintendo is going to bomb out either (as in, not turn a profit, etc). In the end, Pachter thinks Nintendo is going to be just fine, just like they always seem to be.
